INVERNO (the winter) was inspired at the beginning by a tipical horror-movies’ visual standard: the blood which flows red over the withe snow. Imagine a frozen huge lanscape with no horizon to see, ice micro-crystals dancing in the wild wind. Nothing to see, nothing to listen, nothing to smell. The breath stands still while you are frozing. Then, a miracle: something red, hot and good-scenting, gives the white an excting nuance. The idea of Life itself spreads via the instinct to hunt and predate: the miracle of Life awakens because the urge of assassination. Life is waiting mechanism (you can say also: frozen). A mechanism which is waiting to be triggered to devour and assimilate. You can imagine the hunter the way “Dod Sno” (2009,T. Wirkola) depicts him (them: they are an hord of nazi-zombies), maybe he is the lonely psicho-killer we’ve seen in “Fritt Vilt” (2006,R.Uthaug). Even if my main reference, the one which best depicts the cosmic horror located by H.P.Lovecraft’s “At The Mountains Of Madness” (published 1936) in the arctic deserted lands, that movie is “The thing” (1982, J. Carpenter). This movie depicts at its best this idea: the prey is the mirroring principle to the predator who shapes himself according to his prey’s features.
